The Shortlist

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 2026 (version 2026-08-01)

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of The Shortlist, a quantitative financial data screening platform. By accessing or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms in full. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the platform.

The Shortlist does not provide investment advice and does not recommend specific equities for buying or selling. All information is presented solely on the basis of quantitative financial data processed through a proprietary formula. The formula identifies currently strong-performing stocks based on historical data and cannot predict future performance. Any investment decisions and all further research are the sole responsibility of the user.

1. Nature of the Service — No Investment Advice

The Shortlist is a quantitative financial data screening tool. It identifies and ranks equities using a proprietary scoring formula applied to publicly available financial data. Nothing on this platform constitutes investment advice, a recommendation to buy or sell any security, a solicitation of any kind, or a suggestion that any particular security is suitable for any particular person. The Shortlist has no knowledge of any user's financial situation, investment objectives, tax position, or risk tolerance. All investment decisions are made solely by the user, entirely at the user's own risk.

2. No Fiduciary Duty

The Shortlist does not act as, and shall not be construed to act as, a fiduciary, broker-dealer, investment adviser, portfolio manager, financial planner, or any other regulated financial professional. No fiduciary relationship of any kind exists or is created between The Shortlist and any user of the platform.

3. Proprietary Formula — No Guarantee of Performance

Stocks displayed on the platform are identified using a proprietary quantitative formula that evaluates financial data including, but not limited to, revenue growth, momentum indicators, and forward earnings signals. This formula reflects historical and current data only. It does not and cannot predict future performance. Past performance of any stock identified by the platform is not indicative of future results. The inclusion of a stock in any shortlist is not a representation that it will perform well in the future.

4. Data Accuracy and Third-Party Data

Financial data displayed on the platform is sourced from third-party data providers and may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date for any reason, including provider errors, feed interruptions, or processing delays. Scores, rankings, and all derived figures are calculated from this data and are only as accurate and current as the underlying data. In addition, certain content on the platform — including AI-generated explanations, summaries, and the "Shorty" research assistant's responses — is produced using large-language-model technology and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. The Shortlist makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, timeliness, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any data or AI-generated content. Users are solely responsible for independently verifying any information before relying on it for any purpose whatsoever, including investment decisions.

5. Intellectual Property

The Shortlist's scoring formula, ranking algorithms, platform architecture, design, and all associated content are proprietary and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Users are granted a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to access the platform for lawful personal use only. No rights in the platform's intellectual property are transferred to users under any circumstances.

6. Prohibited Uses

Users may not: (a) scrape, crawl, copy, or systematically extract any data or content from the platform by automated or manual means; (b) redistribute, publish, post, share, resell, sublicence, or commercially exploit any data, results, rankings, scores, or other content generated by or displayed on the platform, in whole or in part, on any platform, website, social media channel, financial community, messaging group, or any other medium, regardless of whether such activity is for commercial gain or not; (c) reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the scoring formula or any proprietary component of the platform; (d) use the platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation; (e) access the platform through bots, scripts, or other automated means not expressly authorised by The Shortlist; or (f) share account credentials or allow any third party to access the platform through the user's account. The Shortlist reserves the right to pursue all available legal remedies — including claims for injunctive relief and monetary damages — against any user or third party who violates subsection (b).

7. User Account Security

Users are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials and for all activity that occurs under their account. The Shortlist shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from a user's failure to maintain account security or from any unauthorised access resulting from the user's actions or omissions.

8. Age Restriction

The platform is intended solely for individuals aged 18 years or older. By accessing or using the platform, users represent and warrant that they are at least 18 years of age. The Shortlist reserves the right to immediately terminate access for any user found to be under the minimum age.

9. Plan Allowances

Each plan includes monthly allowances for metered actions, including stock searches and Deep Research reports, together with limits on shortlist size and the number of alerts a user may hold. Allowances reset at the start of each billing period and do not carry over. Unused allowance has no cash value and is not refundable or transferable under any circumstances. The Shortlist reserves the right to adjust plan pricing, allowance levels, and which actions are metered at any time in accordance with Section 10.

10. Free Trial, Pricing, Subscription, Cancellation and Refunds

Subscription pricing may be changed by The Shortlist at any time without prior notice. Users who have already paid for a specific plan will receive the benefit of the terms applicable at the time of their purchase for the duration of that committed period only. Continued use of the platform following any pricing change constitutes the user's acceptance of the updated pricing. No price change shall entitle a user to a refund of any amount already paid. New accounts receive a free trial lasting seven days from signup, during which the paid features of the platform are available in full. No credit card or other payment details are required to begin the trial, and none are collected during it. The trial does not convert automatically into a paid subscription: when the seven days end, the account moves to the free plan and remains there until the user actively chooses to subscribe. No charge can arise from the trial itself. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. A user may cancel at any time from their account. Access continues until the end of the period already paid for, and no further charge is made. Monthly subscriptions are not refundable. The monthly plan is itself the low-commitment option: a user who does not wish to continue may cancel at any time before the next renewal and will not be charged again. Annual subscriptions may be refunded where the request is made within fourteen days of the first annual payment, by writing to support@shortliststocks.com. The amount refunded is the sum paid less one month of service, charged at the standard monthly rate published for that plan rather than at the discounted annual rate. Subsequent annual renewals are not refundable, and no annual subscription is refundable after the fourteen day period has elapsed. A receipt is issued by email for every charge. Refunds arising from permanent cessation of operations are governed by section 11 below.

11. Cessation of Operations

The Shortlist reserves the right to cease operations, discontinue the platform, or suspend all services at any time. Where practicable, The Shortlist will endeavour to provide at least 72 hours' notice before permanent cessation. Upon permanent cessation of operations, The Shortlist's sole financial obligation to users shall be to refund the unexpired portion of any prepaid subscription, calculated on a pro-rata basis by the subscription time remaining at the date of cessation, at the rate the user actually paid for that subscription period. By way of illustration, a user holding an annual subscription with six and a half months remaining at the date of cessation shall be refunded six and a half twelfths of the annual fee that user paid. Service already delivered, including elapsed subscription time and consumed plan allowances, is excluded from any refund. No other compensation, damages, or liability of any kind shall apply in connection with cessation of operations.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Shortlist and its operators, affiliates, and representatives shall have no liability whatsoever for any loss, damage, cost, or expense of any nature arising from or in connection with the use of or inability to use the platform, including but not limited to: investment losses or financial losses of any kind; loss of profits or revenue; reliance on any stock identified by the platform; inaccuracy or incompleteness of data; or any decision made by the user. The Shortlist expressly disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

13. Indemnification

Users agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Shortlist and its operators from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or relating to: (a) the user's use of or inability to use the platform; (b) violation of these Terms; (c) any investment or financial decision made by the user; or (d) any third-party claim relating to the user's conduct on the platform.

14. Force Majeure

The Shortlist shall not be liable for any failure or delay in the performance of its services caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to: third-party data provider outages or errors; API failures; market data interruptions; internet or telecommunications failures; cyberattacks; acts of God; or government actions. In such events, The Shortlist's obligations are suspended for the duration of the disruption.

15. Privacy and Data

We collect and process certain personal data (such as your email and platform usage) to operate the platform. We do not sell your personal data. How we collect, use, share, and protect it — and the rights and choices you have — is described in full in our Privacy Policy.

Read our Privacy Policy

16. Account Termination and Enforcement

The Shortlist reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate any user's account at its sole discretion, without prior notice, in the event of a violation of these Terms or for any other reason deemed necessary to protect the platform or its users. Upon termination for cause, any remaining prepaid subscription time is forfeited and no refund shall be due. In addition to terminating access, The Shortlist expressly reserves the right to pursue all further remedies available under applicable law against users who scrape, copy, post, redistribute, or otherwise share the platform's content, results, rankings, or scores anywhere — including on social media, financial communities, third-party platforms, or messaging services — regardless of whether such conduct is for commercial gain or not. Such further remedies may include, without limitation, seeking injunctive relief, claiming monetary damages, and reporting violations to relevant authorities. Termination of an account does not constitute a waiver of any rights The Shortlist may have arising from a user's prior conduct.

17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms or the use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in Tel Aviv, Israel. Users accessing the platform from other jurisdictions are responsible for compliance with applicable local laws.

18. Modification of Terms

The Shortlist reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time without prior notice. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the platform after updated Terms are posted constitutes the user's acceptance of the revised Terms. If a user does not agree to the revised Terms, they must discontinue use of the platform.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed severed from these Terms, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect without limitation.

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and The Shortlist with respect to your use of the platform and supersede all prior communications or agreements. The Shortlist is operated as an independent service. Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship.
